ARK
Ark blends the concepts of “shelter” and “protection”—from which it takes its name—with a form reminiscent of a boat’s hull, emphasizing comfort and a sense of security. Inspired by Noah’s Ark, this piece is more than just a sofa; it embodies a contemporary design philosophy that offers users a sense of refuge, while its clean lines and unified form bring calm and balance to any interior.
Its structure is shaped by the natural sitting posture of the human body, combining aesthetics and ergonomics through carefully adjusted armrest angles and fluid contours. With its spacious seating area, curved silhouette, and soft lumbar cushion, Ark delivers exceptional comfort—even during extended use.
Available in single, double, and triple configurations, Ark adapts seamlessly to a variety of settings—from executive offices to waiting areas, social spaces to hotel lobbies—infusing each environment with a bold and distinctive character.
EMRE EVRENOS
While designing the Ark sofa, I focused on its role within a space, the value it adds to its surroundings, and the relationship it forms with its user. Sofas and armchairs are typically the largest pieces in a room, naturally becoming focal points and exerting a visual and spatial dominance. Given this significance, such a product demands a thoughtful design approach—one that considers every angle and detail.
With Ark, I aimed to create a piece where sculptural presence is as prominent as functionality. Drawing inspiration from the natural posture the human body assumes while seated, I calibrated the armrest angle accordingly. I then extended this same beveled angle across the entire shell of the piece, reinforcing its sculptural integrity. Compared to a standard armchair, Ark offers a deeper and wider seat, comfortably accommodating various sitting positions. I believe its curved form and occasional sharp detailing make it a design that leaves a lasting impression.
